Govt, solar IPPs reach accord for bringing down power tariff

ISLAMABAD: The process towards signing the Master Agreements by independent power producers (IPPs) that earlier signed memorandums of understanding (MoUs) in August 2020 has begun as the government negotiation team and solar-based IPPs have reached an agreement.
To this effect, one solar IPP namely Harappa Solar Power Private Limited (HSL) having a capacity to generate 18MW electricity here on Saturday initiated the agreement with Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA).
However, the management of Harappa Solar Power Private Limited will sign the formal agreement after it managed to get the go ahead from the board of directors. The cabinet will then approve the agreement, and after that it will be sent to National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) for determining the discount in tariff as per the amended power purchase agreement (PPA). Wahab wants tanneries to switch to solar power

KARACHI : Sindh Law and Environment Adviser Barrister Murtaza Wahab has suggested that the tanneries in Korangi Industrial Area should switch to the mode of solar power for operating their combined effluent treatment plant (CETP) to bring down the cost of treating the waste water of the industry.
He made this suggestion while taking part in a tree plantation tree drive on the green belt in Sector 7-A of Korangi Industrial Area. The office-bearers of the Pakistan Tanneries Association (PTA) were also present on the occasion.
Barrister Wahab said that using solar power to run the CETP would be helpful in bringing down the production cost of Pakistani leather products to increase their competitiveness in the international market.

LAHORE: Pakistan Solar Association (PSA) convened a meeting with solar companies’ owner to listen to their issues and to seek viable solutions to their contemporary problems.
The meeting was chaired by PSA Chairman Mr Muhammad Farhan to highlight industry related issues and call government attention for regulation processes hampering the solar companies’ growth domestically. A delegation from Lahore invited Sindh solar companies’ owners to show their concern regarding ease of doing business in Pakistan.
